With the hustle and bustle of the holidays around the corner, travel can becoming a nightmare if you're not properly prepared. While I'm sure you'll expect longer lines, or even delayed flights packing for a weekend away should be quick and easy, especially if you follow these tips!

When traveling comfort is key! I'm all for traveling in style, but the plane is no place for 6-inch heels or uncomfortable clothing. From the last minute impulsive traveler to the preplanned flyer, everyone wants to do so in style. Wearing clothing in soft fabrics like jersey or cotton will ensure maximum flexibility and will let you kick back; tray table down, and ear plugs in!

Weekender

The perfect travel companion is always a weekender bag! The best bags are equip with a comfortable shoulder strap, plenty of room, and extra storage compartments! I've been using the Sakroot's Kota travel bag for everything. Typically, I find weekenders to be too* small, only to fit a days worth of clothing. The Kota has plenty of space for all of your essentials, and also has clear side pockets for tech accessories and travel documents. Want to score a Sakroot's travel companion? Be sure to enter the 24-days of giveaways!

SHOES

If your flight is in air for longer than an hour it is completely necessary to stick to a low flat or sneaker. Foldable and collapsible flats such as Adidas, are perfect for travel and allow more room in your carry-on. Oh, and did I mention they come in assorted colors and patterns?

WHAT TO WEAR

After takeoff the cabin can get considerably cooler. It’s always a good idea to pack a small cardigan in your carry-on. Fabrics like cashmere or wool are perfect for layering and will quickly warm you up. I like to purchase button-down styles but, I would also recommend searching styles with a belted waist.

Unless you’re flying in first class, long-haul flights can be incredibly uncomfortable. There's no reason to wear tight or ill-fitting clothing that can cause you to tug or adjust in your seat. Yoga pants or leggings are a great solution that essentially fit like a second skin. The silhouette is incredibly flattering and moves with you. Brands such as Lululemon, Athleta, and Zella are among my favorites

SOCKS

One item I never forget to pack is pair of thick socks. Many people opt to arrive at the airport in sandals when traveling to tropical destinations. This makes going through the airport a breeze, but can leave your feet freezing on the plane. Packing an extra pair of socks in your carry-on can make your ride that much more comfortable. Alternatively, compression socks help reduce swelling, fatigue and poor circulation which all can have an effect when traveling for long periods of time.

SNACKS

Food and beverages have grown sparse over the years, and now not even a package of peanuts is given out to travels. Prepare for long flight by purchasing snacks or light foods prior to boarding your flight. Most airports are packed with small shops that have ton of options, not to mention everything to duty free! Anything traveler may not know is that you can in fact bring alcohol on board! If you do plan to carry-on alcohol keep in mind TSA’s 3-1-1 limit for liquids. As a regulation containers must be fewer than 3.4 oz. and fit inside one quart-sized bag.

What are your go-to holiday travel tips?
