A Quick Fix Bohemian Hairstyle

A Quick Fix Bohemian Hairstyle

This season I’ve made a stand against flyaways and frizz! With all of the rain and wind, this time of year my hair often ends up looking like a complete mess. To battle the dreaded rat's nest and take my hair to the next level of shine, I've been spending more time treating my locks to moisture intensive conditioners and Aussie products that stand-up against the weather.

Before creating any style that heavily involves heat tools, I like to first treat hair with a moisture-rich hair mask like Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Strong Conditioning Treatment. I love treating my hair to this mask because it helps reduce the signs of damage and can help make locks stronger.

Once hair is completely dry, use a light-hold hairspray, apply all over hair, and brush through. Prepping hair like so will hold curls for a longer period of time. Since this look is influenced by bohemian style, I will be curling the upper to the middle third of the hair and leaving the ends straight.

Using a comb, part hair down the center, making sure part is straight. To create beachy waves start on one side of the head, alternating curls first backward and then forwards using a curling wand like the beachwaver S1. This creates the perfect curls each time, and you won’t have to worry about burning your hands or wearing a heat glove.

Once hair is curled, section off a small ½” section of hair at the top of the part and apply Aussie Instant Freeze Sculpting Hair Gel. A little goes a long way with this product, so I would advise to use a dime size on this portion of hair. This product is ideal for keeping the braid from becoming loose or producing flyaways.

Once applied, section hair into 3-parts and begin braiding towards the back of the head. Since this is a “baby braid” with little hair, be sure not to pick-up any excess strands that weren’t in the original ½” section.  Once hair is braided, secure with a clear elastic and complete this step, mirroring the braid placement on the other side of the part.

To create a crown effect, I prefer to take both braids and secure them with one elastic at the back of the head (see photo). Once completed spray a light hold hairspray on braids and curls! I’d love to hear how you’re battling winter’s effect on your hair! Do you have any favorite styles?
