Finding the Perfect Red

What's a girl gotta do to find the perfect shade of red? Well, if your anything like me your constantly on the hunt! So what makes the perfect red lipstick? Sparkle, shine, or matte? Well, they all matter and depend on the coverage and hue that is right for your skin tone. When searching for a shade thats right for me I look for a few key things:

Satin, Blue-Toned Red
Snow White, NYX

For example, is it sheer, super bold, matte, or satin? These all matter and will effect they way the final product applies on your lips. For me, I go for satin or matte finishes. Since I tend to have oily skin, high shine and glitter glosses make my skin appear much shinier than it actually is. If you're unsure what type of coverage to get start with a satin, these tend to be creamier formulas and are the perfect mix of color and sheen.

We all have unique skin properties and undertones that look best when paired with a complimentary color. The broadest way to define these tones is neutral, warm, and cool. People with neutral undertones have the best of both worlds and can really go either way with their reds. Everything from pink-reds to blue-reds look great on their skin. If your tones tend to be a bit warmer stick to reds with orange or pink tones. If your skin tends to be cooler look for red shades with blue undertones. These don't necessary need to be dark, a classic bright red with a cooler tint will blend nicely with the skin!
