Selfies

Happy International Women's Day!

Can I just say how awkward  it is to take a ton of picture of yourself? One of my main struggles with blogging has been a result of not having another person to assist me with photos. I would love to be able to share outfit pictures but without another photographer things can get tricky. As a New Years resolution I made a promise to myself to begin to develop my self-portrait skills so I can eventually share OOTD images.

And slowly, but surely I have started with the basics in order to get clarity and focus down. Shown above is one of my first snaps, a little artsy but definitely a step in the right direction!

Do you have another person snap your images or do you go solo?

xoxo,

Birdie

  1. This photo of you is stunning. You did an incredible job too with the focus and just the whole "doing it yourself" bit. I am very impressed.
Thankfully, I can take advantage of my boyfriend for the OOTD. He loves photography(although he prefers buildings rather than people as his subjects)so I talked him into practicing his skills by taking photos of me :)
You are doing amazing on your own though, and maybe your friends can snap photos once in a while?

  2. This is amazing. Specifically if it's one of your first self portraits. Sometimes self portraits can be cheesy or dramatic, but this one is just lovely! Love the stark black background. Thankfully my husband started helping me out with my photos. It took a long time of me directing him and critiquing him and showing him how to use a dslr over and over, but he's a good sport ;)

    1. I so appreciate your kind words :)) ! I've been trying to bribe my brother into taking my photos, but seeing as he photographs extreme sports the fashion word doesn't seem too appealing lol.

  4. Wow you look amazing, what a beautiful profile! I struggle with the exact same thing and I don't have a full length mirror to assist me either.

  5. I'm in the same boat - sometimes my mum/sister do it when I see them, but, dare I say it, the pictures aren't great..!

Thanks for you lovely comment and for visiting Are We On Time?
I hope to see you back soon!

  6. It's nice to hear other bloggers having the same issue I've had. Getting a pic is so difficult! When I am able to get an OOTD shot, I'm often not happy with how it turns out and end up not using it.

Your pic above, btw, is fantastic. Impressed that you took it yourself!
