The STACK

The stack was passed down from a member of the fire station my dad worked at. He was lucky to inherit it, because it is not only delicious, but its perfect dish for summer! Everything seems to work together beautifully, Pair it with a tall glass of white wine for the perfect compliment.

There's an App For That!

I honestly don't know how many times I've found myself using the helpful and sometimes completely random apps that Apple has to offer. I've tried and tested quite a few and I've decided to compile a list of my favorites.

1. Pandora

This little guy is musical genius, whenever I feel like I've played out the songs on my phone I'll switch it on. The premise behind the app, is that you type in a band, musician or song, and it complies a play list of songs you may like to listen to based on your taste.

2. HeyTell

This app is more or less a walkie-talkie, it allows you to connect with people on Androids, iPhones, iPads, and iPods with the press of a single button.

3. Hipstamatic

This application is very cool, I almost rarely use the iphones basic camera due to this app. Its vintage camera appearance allows you to shoot picture using a variety of lenses and films all which produce different effects on lighting and color.

4. Nike + GPS

This app is similar to the in shoe GPS chip which synced with iPods to show total time, mileage, and calories burned. This takes it to the next level, and tells you just about everything you wanted to know about your workout. From distance, to pace this app is a runners best friend, and the positive affirmations at the end are always nice :).

5. Thrillist

This app uses GPS to help to find the hottest spots to eat, drink and shop! They highlight future events and new restaurants, all of which have a cool atmosphere or fun location.

Kiwi Sorbet

The past couple days have put me in the mood for a light and refreshing treat. I would say that I would just drive over to the store to find something sweet, but that would take all the fun out of creating something new. I've always been a fan of both kiwi's and sorbet, so when I came across this recipe it was a dream come true!

Something Borrowed Book Review

I Just finished up reading Emily Giffin's Something Borrowed, just one of the several books she has published. I honestly and truly enjoyed reading it, the characters seemed pretty authentic and I could relate to their (Rachel & Darcy) friendship. It was relatively a short, and smooth read, however call it my own personal bias I had issues with the ending. Now, that being said I never expect or ask for happy ending but I do think that a book should run its course; that is come to a closure. I just thought that the way things were left, left me with a bitter taste. I wont give away any spoiler secrets, but overall I would give the book a 3.5/5. I still want to go see the movie, even though most people know the book is always 50x better, I'm curious to see how it turned out!

Hope your all enjoying the warm weather!

Cheers,

Birdie

Kali

I decided that today I should make a post in honor of my lovely, quite funny terrier Kali. We (my family & I) rescued Kali a few years ago, as a result of a missing piece of our family. We have always had dogs and animals for as long as I can remember, all of them being adopted from rescue shelters or temporary homes. When we got her she was shy and a little scared, (but who can blame her) and it took awhile for her to adopt us. I can honestly say she is one of the most dependable, and loving animals we have ever had. Her little quirkiness adds to her character as an animal, sometimes we even joke about her being a re-born human. I can not stress how important it is to consider rescuing a dog, they will be the most loyal friend you will ever have, and that is a promise!

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace."

- Milan Kundera

Sail Away With Me Honey

It's just finally beginning to feel like summer here in CA, even though the weather has only just reached the mid 70s, I'm glad to have the rain gone! I can't believe it was June and still you could feel a chill in the air, it was just plain weird! I've finally had a chance to start blogging again, so I promise to be more persistent at posting :)
